One Last Visit To Swoyambhu
Swoyambhu has always been one of my most favourite places to visit since I grew up in this area and it’s a very holy and peaceful place for me.
It’s also a great place to take photos – photos of pigeons, monkeys, butter lamps, monks, etc. and so I ended up going there again in the last week of 2013 (yes this album is more than 3 months old).
A monkey looking around for his next target
Keeping an eye out
Fun fact: a group of pigeons is called a “kit” or a “loft”
Doesn’t take much to make these birds take off
When it comes to food these birds don’t give a hoot
A young girl lights a large wick to offer to the shrine
Just continuing with the idea of capturing people reading newspapers
Got a close up of some monkey grooming
This mother & child scampered down this metal rod and paused for my camera
Kinda reminds me of Mortal Kombat 🙂
This sculpture of Buddha’s face was very well made
Loved the contrast in the size of this statue and the butter lamp
This caretaker climbed all the way to the top without any safety harness
I caught this guy staring right back at me
A monkey ponders the mysteries of life
