Swoyambhu has always been one of my most favourite places to visit since I grew up in this area and it’s a very holy and peaceful place for me.
It’s also a great place to take photos – photos of pigeons, monkeys, butter lamps, monks, etc. and so I ended up going there again in the last week of 2013 (yes this album is more than 3 months old).
- A monkey looking around for his next target
- Keeping an eye out
- Fun fact: a group of pigeons is called a “kit” or a “loft”
- Doesn’t take much to make these birds take off
- When it comes to food these birds don’t give a hoot
- A young girl lights a large wick to offer to the shrine
- Just continuing with the idea of capturing people reading newspapers
- Buddhas
- Got a close up of some monkey grooming
- This mother & child scampered down this metal rod and paused for my camera
- Kinda reminds me of Mortal Kombat 🙂
- This sculpture of Buddha’s face was very well made
- Loved the contrast in the size of this statue and the butter lamp
- This caretaker climbed all the way to the top without any safety harness
- I caught this guy staring right back at me
- A monkey ponders the mysteries of life
